PRODUCT OVERVIEW

Protect yourself from incoming rounds, blast debris, and blunt force trauma with the Protector Helmet from Armored Republic: Rated to stop Level IIIA threats, the Protector will defeat all handgun rounds. This helmet has a light weight of 3 pounds and an adjustable under-the-chin suspension system.

The Protector Helmet is based on the classic PASGT helmet issued for decades in middle eastern conflicts, however, unlike those older designs, the Protector features an adjustable suspension system and enhanced padding.

This helmet provides single-hit protection against all handgun threats and is tested in accordance with NIJ 0106.01 level  IIIA standards with .44 magnum rounds.* It is principally made of an integrated formation of aramid fiber, placed under high heat and pressure. This material is popular for lightweight armor for its high strength and is especially resilient in extreme temperatures.

The outer surface of the helmet shell is coated in a matte finish with a walnut powder texture, while the helmet edge is covered by low-friction rubber. It features a boltless retention system and a full shell to cover your entire head, unlike some modern designs.

*The tests were conducted with .44 mag (an NIJ 0101.06 IIIA threat) but otherwise followed the procedure of the NIJ 0106.01 (shot placement, BFD methods, etc).

***Please note: This item is NOT returnable/refundable. All sales are final***

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Is there a helmet that can stop a bullet? Yes, ballistic helmets are rated to stop most common handgun rounds up to a 44 magnum. Armored Republic's Protector Helmet can stop level IIIA threats.
  • Can civilians own bulletproof helmets? Helmets are bullet-resistant, not bulletproof, and are legal for civilian ownership in most states.
  • What is a bulletproof helmet made of? Ballistic helmets (not bulletproof helmets) can be made of a multitude of materials. They primarily will be made from pressed and glued layers of aramid (Kevlar), steel, or ballistic polymers. Keep in mind that helmets made of aramid and polymers have a shelf life and are only good for a single shot.
