The Epic History of Glock Handguns

From curtain rods to world-leading firearms manufacturers — that’s the Cinderella story of the iconic Glock brand. Today, their history is a continued testimony to their success.

In the 1960s, an Austrian man named Gaston Glock manufactured meager curtain rods. He was familiar with raw materials and synthesis — polymers, composites, et cetera. In the 1970s, he secured a contract to supply the Austrian military with new combat knives. That was just the beginning.

The Glock brand of firearms truly came into existence in the 1980s after the Austrian military desired a new weapon to replace their World War II-era Walther P-38s. Gaston had no military enterprises besides knives. He had no firearms production experience, no marketing in the field, and was working out of a garage workshop. He seemed like a laughable candidate. A curtain rod maker making guns? Yeah, okay.

But the competition wasn’t laughing for long. Gaston Glock gathered up some of his most talented buddies in manufacturing (even some from the camera industry) and worked for a year straight until he was able to file a patent for the classic Glock 17 in 1981. After the Glock 17 passed rigorous trials and stress testing, the world would never be the same.

Thanks to Gaston’s genius, his knowledge of composite materials, and other gun manufacturers' knowledge, he rode to victory with adventurous investors and once-skeptical allies. The world's first majorly successful polymer-framed weapon was born from Glock, and it’s had a meteoric rise into popularity ever since

The .380 caliber Glock 42 is considered one of the best subcompacts in the world, followed by its sister the Glock 43 — both stupendous additions to the field of concealable and powerful weapons.

One of the companies has you text or email, the other hand young folks on the phone who don’t even shoot or know anything about the industry. Your veteran customer service guys are kicka$$!! Glock 42 Extended Magazines

ProMag, ETS, and more offer a huge selection of magazines to choose from. You can easily find the magazine that fits your tactical needs with a click of a mouse. But how do you choose the right one? It all boils down to what you want out of your firearm.

One person might want to view their ammo at a glance, while another may want to keep a certain color profile. From factory 6-round magazines to the insane 32-round drum capacity, you can switch up your mission profile any time with a Glock 42.

At Pro Armory, we can offer a wide range of magazines that will suit your every need. There are many colors, volumes, and quite a few notable magazine makers. From standard factory magazines to drum magazines, Pro Armory has you covered.

ETS Extended Magazines

ETS (Elite Tactical Systems) gives us a robust high-capacity magazine with great construction and design. These 12-round magazines, keep a practical low profile while still giving you an edge over your opponents. They’re also made from a highly durable polymer that’s built with a drop-resistant baseplate. A polymer follower keeps this magazine lightweight and highly reloadable. A steel spring gives the follower all the push it needs after every reload.

One of the best features of this mag is its translucent body, allowing you to see how much ammo you have left at any given time — on a bright day or in dim light. This keeps your targets in the hot zone.

ProMag Extended Magazines

ProMag is an industry success in magazines in both design and durability. Their magazines offer a wide variety of choices for your needs. Although the idea behind the Glock 42 (and subsequently the 43) was to remain low profile and concealable. ProMag offers factory magazines and extended magazines up to a 32-round drum.

In addition, the ProMag 10-round magazine allows you to extend your subcompact Glock 42 with ease. It increases your finger grip surface area and allows more control for those of you with larger palms. Those with smaller palms will find more surface area to work with, as well.

The ProMag 10-round magazine comes in a durable polymer in a stock black color. The polymer construction allows less wear and tear on the magazine and spring. It’s drop-resistant as well, so don’t be afraid to practice quick mag changes. The spring is chrome silicon wiring and has an anti-fatigue design, meaning more reloads and more lifetime. The follower is a polymer injection-molded piece, meaning precision and lightweight construction.

Overall, this is an excellent magazine to keep the low-pro look and purpose of the Glock 42 without breaking the bank. You can easily stack up on these affordable (but not cheaply made) magazines and stay at the range longer with more ammo. ProMag even advertises a lifetime warranty on their products!
