I don't know about you, but I love to clean my firearms, and I mean LOVE to. It is almost as soothing as going to group therapy, but not the group therapy you are thinking about. My group therapy involves me, my firearm, and a decent amount of ammo taking a trip to the range to work things out. I mean it really does wonders for letting go of frustration and stress. You can literally see the stress melt away as you focus on your groups and watch them get tighter and tighter. But, that segway aside, let’s get back to the purpose of this intervention.

With that being said, I know you might be wondering how well it actually lives up to the claims. Real Avid boasts a very steep claim about this product as well, claiming that you will only need one run through with the Bore Boss to clean your stubborn barrel. Looking at that claim in itself, if you are anything like me, it kind of gives me the same “challenge accepted” mentality as the GPS in my car telling me it will take a certain amount of time to get somewhere. To which I reply, “Wanna bet?” If you are not yet nodding your head in agreement, you are lying to yourself.

Before we really get into it, let’s strip tease this “ Bore Boss” and see what she has to offer. Right off the bat, the packaging looks like it is here to play ball. There is nothing sexy about the plastic and cardboard body this thing is delivered in, though I will say that is a perk to me. If a company really lavishes the product with expensive packaging for this low price of $9.99, I will immediately get the feeling it is a waste of our time and money. I would much rather see the product in cheap packaging with modesty and light pride in mind and have the product do the advertising, rather than a cool box and crappy product. Looking at you Ammo Inc.

In all seriousness though, as we look further into this product, we can see it was designed with purpose in mind. The entirety of this thing has a use. The rubber flap protects and contains the fabric product itself and prevents whatever potential grim and oil on the snake itself from getting on anything else that it is stored with. Additionally, the plastic portion of the case keeps the wire position of the product from kinking or creating any bends in storage, while the center tube-like portion protects the bristles of your brass brush. Then to top it all off, there is even a portion of the case that you can use to help pull the snake through by tucking the small metal ball on the end of the wire into a notch, built into the storage case. I mean come on, this thing is built all around for use and convenience. Real Avid has a real winner here, and that is all before we put her to work!

Now let’s put it to work! The way you use this amazing tool is the same way you would go about using your cleaning rod and dozen patches. Except here, you are not going to feel like you are back in the revolution with a ram rod and a musket. Here, you are going to join the 21st century and have a clean barrel in the short amount of time that you'd think it should have taken to clean the inside of a steel tube. For all you guys cleaning that AK for the first time, you go butt to front (the path of the bullet). Please do not be like those people that look at the watch, digital or analog be damned, to see which way is clockwise. If you did not get that joke, shame on you. I seriously cannot stress enough how easy this thing is to use, and I encourage you to run a patch down it after you run this thing through once or twice. See if I am just full of it or not. I promise you that you will not be disappointed.

Most people I have run into claim that you can get a barrel clean in one pass through, but I like to take care of my firearms the way they take care of me. So, I will usually run her through twice for good measure, though I have found that it is more for my peace of mind and not what the firearm actually needs. But, I digress. The factor of the matter is that this is an essential tool to add to your firearms care regimen. I would argue it is as critical as slurping down that H2O in the gym as you are getting after it, creating that ultimate zombie apocalypse survival “bod”.

While this review came out of the gate a little unorthodox, I hope that you enjoyed it! I really enjoyed letting you into my twisted mind for a short period.
